Concept note

A Renovation Wave in Europe cannot be achieved without the mobilisation of key civil society groups, notably representatives of owners and professional organisations. They can play a crucial role in engaging, advising and supporting citizens in their renovation journey, and ensuring that quality projects are delivered. This event aims to:

  • showcase and discuss, through the presentation of concrete examples, the role of key civil society groups in the Renovation Wave strategy
  • debate policy initiative and instruments that can best support the mobilisation of civil society

The panel discussion will include statements (without presentations, to facilitate the public interest and consequently engagement) from four speakers. First, two speakers in the panel’s sub-session Raising awareness among final users will bring in the experience and practical examples from UIPI and ACE member associations, thus showcasing the practical role of civil society associations in the Renovation Wave. The second sub-session Policy development for a Renovation Wave that fosters civil society engagement will look into Renovation Wave policy developments through a more theoretical approach with speakers from the European Parliament and the European Commission and discuss the importance of engagement with civil society in order to create a policy framework that delivers and is fit for all.
