    The EESC Study Group on Disability Rights is organising a public hearing on "Communicating disability Rights" on 28 June 2019, where we will try to give an answer to these questions.

  • The 6th meeting of the EU Domestic Advisory Group under the EU-Ukraine DCFTA took place on 27 Jun 2019 in Brussels. Please click on the programme tab to consult the topics on the agenda.

  • This public hearing will look at ways to implement the 17 SDGs by addressing social concerns in full synergy with environmental and economic ones, reducing social inequalities and more fairly distributing the burden of transformation towards a sustainable Europe.

  • The European Economic and Social Committee is organizing a hearing as part of its follow-up work on its opinion on ''A European retail sector fit for the 21st century'', which was adopted in December 2018. The event will take place on 27 June 2019. It is part of a series of follow-up hearings to be held in several EU Member States.

    The main objective of the hearing will be to discuss the effectiveness and efficiency of EU retail policies and to collect valuable input and feedback from Polish stakeholders on the issue in order to find ways to improve these policies. Particular emphasis will be placed on the recommendations presented in the EESC opinion with a view to their implementation at national level.

    Extraordinary meeting of the Workers' Group

    The Workers' Group is organising an extraordinary meeting in Romania in the framework of the Romanian EU Presidency.

    This year's meetings between the EU and Central America under the Trade and Sustainable Development Title of the Association Agreement included a joint meeting of the DAGs where the representatives of the EU and Central American Advisory Groups exchanged experience in their current operation and discussed proposals for capacity strengthening of the civil society monitoring mechanism, the role of the parties in this context and future cooperation. The joint meeting of the DAGs was followed by a workshop on Trade and Sustainable Development where the participants discussed the content of the chapter and looked for a common understanding of the chapter.

    The participants had an opportunity to meet the organisations of their subgroups in sectorial meetings, to promote their cooperation and joint work under their current mandate. After the sectorial meetings, the participants attended the Civil Society Dialogue Forum where civil society representatives from the EU and Central America asked questions and expressed their positions with regard to the implementation of the Association Agreement and its impact.

  • The objective of the hearing will be to give the floor to experts in the field, but also to answer questions on how can the EU Single Market and its citizens benefit from fully operational European Blockchain infrastructure.

  • During the meeting, the EU DAG discussed with a representative of the European Commission the progress in work on implementation of the EU-Canada CETA. The Group exchanged views with a representative of the Canada Mission to the EU. A discussion round on the work programme was also held.

    On 18 and 19 June 2019, in the framework of the European Development Days, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in partnership with the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) is organising an exhibition entitled "Together for Inclusion - Inclusive development in action"

    The exhibition - which presents the ten winning photos from the photo competition launched during the 2017 European Disability and Development Week - captures men, women and children with disabilities enjoying their right to education, work, culture, leisure, friendship and community. The exhibition was originally presented in the EESC, on December 2018, to mark the International Day of People with Disabilities.
