European Economic

A strategic standardisation for a stronger Single Market
Background
The opinion will address the revision of the EU standardisation framework, scheduled by the European Commission for Q3/2026. Standards play a key role in the Single Market, shaping industrial competitiveness, value chain resilience and the organisation of work.
The opinion will highlight the strategic importance of standards for innovation, safety, sustainability and competitiveness, while ensuring that the future framework remains inclusive, supports SMEs, and safeguards workers’ rights. By providing early, structured input, the EESC aims to guide EU policymaking towards a modern, robust and socially balanced standardisation system.
