Statement by EESC President Röpke on the occasion of The Solemn Moment at the European Parliament for the terrorist attacks in Israel

I am truly appalled by the horrible terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel.

As the President of EESC, I strongly condemn these acts of terror and violence against innocent people, a true crime against humanity.

The European Economic and Social Committee remains fully united with the citizens of Israel and their civil society.

I have been exchanging with Avi Yehezkel, President of the Israeli Economic and Social Committee. I expressed to him my deepest sympathy and full solidarity with all victims and their families.

I would like to thank President Metsola for organising today's solemn moment to commemorate the lives lost over the past days and to call for the immediate release of all hostages.

This is the European solidarity and unity, among all the EU institutions.
