European Economic

Contracts for the sale of goods (amendment)
Key points
The EESC:
- mainly reiterates the positions expressed in its opinion on the proposals put forward by the Commission in 2015, which stated that the rules applicable to the sale of goods should be the same, regardless of the sales channel. This position has also been confirmed by both the European Parliament and the Council;
- welcomes the fact that this amended proposal extends the scope of the proposal for a directive on certain aspects concerning contracts for the online sales of goods to cover face-to-face sales as well;
- calls on the Commission to take account, in its proposal, of a number of recommendations made in its opinion.
