Meeting of the EU-ACP Follow-up Committee - March 2023

On 16 and 17 March 2023, the ACP-EU Follow-up Committee held its last meeting, an event co‑organised in partnership with the Portuguese Economic and Social Council, with a view to further strengthening the cordial and fruitful cooperation between the two institutions. This meeting took place in the city of Porto, Portugal, and was dedicated to civil society's contribution to the future of EU-ACP relations.

The first day of the meeting focused on the institutional framework under the Post-Cotonou Agreement and, more specifically, on the participation of civil society in this framework. The second day rather looked at the future partnership through two important topics, namely the Global Gateway strategy and the challenges around water in ACP States, in particular in the context of climate change.

Lastly, the ACP-EU Follow-up Committee closed the event by discussing and adopting a joint statement on civil society participation in the future of ACP-EU relations.
