The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Elke maand nodigen wij u uit om kennis te maken met een “verrassingsgast”, iemand van wie het werk en de inzet een inspiratiebron vormen voor anderen. Mensen die we bewonderen om hun moed, hun vastberadenheid en hun trouw aan idealen.
Het gaat om mensen die de realiteit waarin we leven anders helpen vormgeven. Voor de decembereditie van EESC Info hebben we Matthew Caruana Galizia uitgenodigd, onderzoeksjournalist en directeur van de Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation, waar hij werkt aan de zaak rond de moord op zijn moeder, Daphne Caruana Galizia, die in 2017 werd omgebracht na haar onderzoeken naar corruptie op Malta. Matthew en zijn familie hebben zich tot dusver onvermoeibaar ingezet om straffeloosheid aan te pakken en de waarheid omtrent Daphne’s dood te achterhalen.
