The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Budování talentových partnerství se zeměmi původu a tranzitu je klíčovou politikou při řešení migrace. Evropa musí změnit zaměření vnějšího rozměru migrační politiky a začlenit jej do širší geopolitické a geoekonomické agendy, která by si měla získat právoplatné místo mezi ostatními politikami.
„Dnes se zde bavíme o tom, jak souvisí geopolitika s migrací. Příští velká vlna migrantů přijde do Evropy z Afriky,“ zdůraznil na schůzi konané v červenci 2021 předseda sekce REX Dimitris Dimitriadis.
Podle odhadů žilo v lednu 2020 v EU 23 milionů státních příslušníků třetích zemí, což představuje 5 % evropské populace čítající 447 milionů osob.
Nový pakt o migraci a azylu sice i nadále podporuje talentová partnerství se zeměmi původu, tranzitu a cílovými zeměmi, avšak zdá se, že něco brání efektivnímu provádění tohoto paktu.
Jean-Louis De Brower, jenž má na starosti program pro evropské záležitosti v Egmont Institute, uvedl, že vůči paktu pravděpodobně nepanuje dostatečná důvěra a solidarita.
Estrella Gallan zastupující Španělskou komisi pro pomoc uprchlíkům upozornila na to, že tíhu migrace a azylu nesou země vstupu a že přístup k řešení těchto záležitostí by měl být proporcionálnější a měl by se opírat o sdílenou odpovědnost a solidaritu.
Rozvojová politika v Africe může zastavit nelegální migraci
Pozitivní příspěvek k rozvoji v Africe, která je zranitelná vůči změnám klimatu, by mohl přinést sociální, politickou a hospodářskou stabilitu.
Neboli jak uvedla Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana, první místopředsedkyně Výboru Evropského parlamentu pro rozvoj, „politiky v oblasti rozvoje jsou neoddělitelně spojené s migrací.“
Na to navázal Dr Chiyoge B. Sifa z africké sekce Mezinárodního družstevního svazu (Co-operative Alliance Africa), jenž vyzdvihl význam partnerství s evropskou sekcí svazu (ICA-EU) a jeho důležitou úlohu při odrazování mladých lidí od toho, aby se vydávali na cestu Středomořím. (at)
