The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Od grudnia 2023 r. do czerwca 2024 r. w „EKES info” będzie pojawiać się nowa kolumna pt. „Ja głosuję. A ty?. Będziemy w niej prezentować poglądy goszczących u nas prelegentów na temat tego, w jaki sposób i po co wziąć udział w wyborach europejskich. Naszym pierwszym gościem jest Robert Sermek, dyrektor Biura Kontaktowego Parlamentu Europejskiego na Słowacji.
Robert Sermek zawiaduje siedmioosobowym zespołem i odpowiada za wdrażanie strategii komunikacji Parlamentu na szczeblu krajowym oraz za przybliżanie Słowaczkom i Słowakom prac Parlamentu i europosłów. Pracuje w Parlamencie Europejskim od 2007 r. Kierował projektem dotyczącym materiałów audiowizualnych w ogólnounijnych kampaniach komunikacyjnych przed wyborami europejskimi w 2014 r. i 2019 r., a także koordynował pod względem redakcyjnym prace służb audiowizualnych Parlamentu. Przed rozpoczęciem pracy w administracji UE parał się dziennikarstwem i był korespondentem słowackiej agencji informacyjnej TASR, a następnie – słowackiego radia w Brukseli. Zdawał relację z kluczowego etapu, którym były negocjacje akcesyjne Słowacji z UE i NATO.
