The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Unser EWSA info enthält von Dezember 2023 bis Juni 2024 die neue Rubrik: „Ich gehe wählen. Du auch?“, in der sich unsere Gäste der Frage widmen, wie die Europawahl abläuft und warum man daran teilnehmen sollte. Unser erster Gast ist Robert Sermek, Leiter des Verbindungsbüros des Europäischen Parlaments in der Slowakei.
An der Spitze eines siebenköpfigen Teams ist Robert Sermek für die Umsetzung der Kommunikationsstrategien des Parlaments auf nationaler Ebene zuständig und bringt den slowakischen Bürgerinnen und Bürgern die Arbeit des Parlaments und seiner Mitglieder näher. Für das Europäische Parlament ist er seit 2007 tätig und war Projektleiter für audiovisuelle Produkte in den EU-weiten Kommunikationskampagnen im Vorfeld der Europawahlen 2014 und 2019 und redaktioneller Koordinator für die audiovisuellen Dienste des Parlaments. Vor seiner Zeit als EU-Bediensteter arbeitete er als Journalist. Er war Korrespondent für die slowakische Nachrichtenagentur TASR und später für den slowakischen Rundfunk in Brüssel, für den er über die entscheidende Phase der Beitrittsgespräche zwischen der Slowakei und der EU sowie der NATO berichtete.
