The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

In twee onlangs goedgekeurde adviezen geeft het EESC zijn bijgewerkte standpunt weer over de jaarlijkse duurzame-groeianalyse 2022 van de Commissie (waarin de komende prioriteiten van het economisch en werkgelegenheidsbeleid van de EU worden geschetst) en over de aanbevelingen voor het economisch beleid van de eurozone voor 2022. Het EESC pleit voor een evenwichtige aanpak die de sociale en milieudoelstellingen van de EU niet in gevaar brengt.
Nu de energie- en voedselprijzen stijgen, is het belangrijk dat een sociaal vangnet wordt gecreëerd voor de meest kwetsbare groepen. Daarnaast moet de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB), nu de inflatie een historische recordhoogte heeft bereikt, de neveneffecten van haar monetair beleid op bijvoorbeeld de groei en de werkgelegenheid analyseren. Wat de stijgende overheidsschulden betreft, moet vooruitgang worden geboekt met de hervorming van het stabiliteits- en groeipact.
“Zeker nu, in tijden van crisis, pleit het EESC voor een evenwichtige beleidsaanpak met oog voor billijkheid en vrijwaring van de milieudoelstellingen,” aldus Judith Vorbach, rapporteur voor het vervolgadvies over de jaarlijkse duurzame-groeianalyse 2022. “Deze aanpak vormt de basis voor de vroegere, huidige en toekomstige welvaart en concurrentiekracht, alsmede voor meer convergentie en veerkracht in de EU”.
Juraj Sipko, rapporteur voor het vervolgadvies over het economisch beleid van de eurozone voor 2022: “We moeten samenwerken om de ongekende systeemschokken waarmee de wereld momenteel wordt geconfronteerd het hoofd te bieden. Wanneer wordt gedraald met de goedkeuring en uitvoering van maatregelen dan kan dit verstrekkende gevolgen hebben, niet alleen in termen van materieel verlies, maar ook in termen van mensenlevens."
