The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Het EESC organiseert een fototentoonstelling over de desastreuze aardbeving in Kroatië in december 2020.
De collectie van 25 foto’s, getiteld “Stay with us”, is bedoeld om mensen bewust te maken van de verwoestende gevolgen van natuurrampen voor allerlei menselijke, sociale en commerciële activiteiten.
Te zien is hoe ambachtslieden die hun werkplaatsen kwijtraakten en niet over middelen beschikten om hun activiteiten voort te zetten, verenigd en positief zijn gebleven en zo mensen zijn blijven inspireren.
De beelden zijn vooral genomen in en rond de regio’s Sisak, Petrinja en Glina, waar een jaar na dato de ravage nog altijd zichtbaar is en nog talloze herstelwerkzaamheden moeten worden uitgevoerd.
De tentoonstelling loopt van 15 februari t/m 15 maart 2022 en is integraal te zien via de website van het EESC. (ck)
