On 14th of September 2021 the co-chairs of the EESC Liaison Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the EESC and the European civil society organisations that are member of the EES Liaison Group. With a view to the Conference of the Future of Europe, this MoU aims to join forces and to co-organise joint activities, debates and events at EU, national, regional and local level over the next few months.

At its plenary session on 20 February, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) welcomed the instigators of the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) “Eat Original. Unmask Your Food”, which calls on the European Commission to impose mandatory origin labelling for all food products in order to prevent fraud and guarantee consumers' right to information.
