The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Vsak mesec vas vabimo, da spoznate osebnost, ki s svojim delom in predanostjo daje navdih drugim.
Septembra je bil naš gost Sébastien Maillard, direktor fundacije Jacques Delors v Parizu. Z nami je delil svoje razumevanje koncepta „evropske pripadnosti“, ki je zlasti pomemben sedaj, v času razprave o prihodnosti Evrope, katere vrhunec bo francosko predsedovanje v prvi polovici leta 2022.
Sébastien Maillard je direktor inštituta Jacques Delors v Parizu. Ta možganski trust, ki šteje 20 zaposlenih, skupaj s partnerji v Berlinu in Bruslju analizira evropska vprašanja in oblikuje operativne zamisli za spodbujanje evropskega povezovanja v več ključnih sektorjih. V njegovem sklopu je akademija Notre Europe (Naša Evropa), ki krepi ozaveščenost o evropskih vprašanjih med mladimi, starimi od 18 do 30 let.
Sébastien Maillard je – preden se je pridružil možganskemu trustu, ki ga je ustanovil nekdanji predsednik Evropske komisije Jacques Delors – kariero začel kot novinar častnika La Croix, Bil je dopisnik iz Bruslja (2007-2010) in Rima (2013-2016), sourednik uredništva za zunanje zadeve, leta 2017 pa je pokrival predsedniško kampanjo Emmanuela Macrona. Kot strokovnjak za evropske zadeve je poučeval na univerzah Sciences Po v Parizu in Boston College ter sodeloval s časopisi TheWorldPost, The German Times in drugimi. Je član več evropskih organizacij (Evropsko gibanje, Hiša Roberta Schumana, Evropska hiša). Je tudi avtor dela Qu’avons-nous fait de l’Europe? (predgovor Jacquesa Delorsa, 2013) in zbirke intervjujev z Enricom Letto Faire l’Europe dans un monde de brute (2017). Ta je bila leta 2019 natiskana v žepni izdaji in prevedena v več jezikov. (ehp)
