The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Pripravila skupina delojemalcev v EESO
Trajnostna konkurenčnost morda zveni kot najnovejša bruseljska krilatica, vendar je to daleč od resnice. Konkurenčnost na splošno velja za vodilo delodajalcev, saj se ti zavzemajo za ugodno poslovno okolje, v katerem lahko podjetja uspevajo. Hkrati ni treba posebej poudarjati, da so uspešna podjetja cilj, za katerega se zavzemajo tudi delavci.
In kje tu svojo vlogo odigra trajnostni vidik? Konkurenčno prednost je mogoče pridobiti na različne načine. Podjetje lahko učinkovitejše posluje, uvaja inovacije na področju svojih proizvodnih metod, pomaga razvijati boljšo tehnologijo ter usposablja zaposlene in izboljšuje njihove pogoje. Ali pa poskuša tekmece premagati tako, da izkorišča vrzeli v zakonodaji, onesnažuje okolje in išče načine, kako svoje zaposlene plačati manj – morda ste že slišali za platformno gospodarstvo?
Trajnostna konkurenčnost je zato temeljna prednostna naloga delavcev in državljanov na splošno: zagotavlja, da je konkurenčnost proces, ki izboljšuje družbo, in ne tekmovanje v zniževanju standardov. Dolgoročno to koristi vsem, saj smo doslej še vsi potrebovali naš planet. To je tudi v interesu delodajalcev: ne le, da jim pomaga pri zagotavljanju okoljske in socialne stabilnosti, temveč tudi spodbuja pošteno konkurenco in ceni delo poštenih podjetij.
