On 12 December, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) awarded prizes to five civil society organisations who stand up for equal opportunities for women and men, raise awareness about women's potential and achievements, and contribute to their empowerment in Europe's society and economy.
Meedingen naar de prijs voor het maatschappelijk middenveld 2019 van het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité (EESC) kan vanaf nu. Thema dit jaar is Meer vrouwen in de Europese samenleving en economie, en de prijs zal gaan naar innovatieve initiatieven en projecten die worden ingezet in de strijd voor gelijke kansen voor vrouwen en mannen en gelijke behandeling op alle vlakken van het economische en maatschappelijke leven.
The EESC plans to launch the 11th edition of the civil society prize in the second quarter of 2019.
The prize will be open to civil society organisations and individuals and will reward initiatives that have made a significant contribution to promoting European identity and integration.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is inviting organisations and individuals who work for a better Europe to put themselves forward for the Civil Society Prize, which this year is promoting initiatives to do with European values, identities and cultural heritage. The deadline is 7 September 2018.
The EESC plans to launch the 10th edition of the civil society prize in the second quarter of 2018.
The indicative deadline for applications will be in September 2018. The total value of the prize to be shared among up to five winners is likely to be 50.000 EUR. The prize award ceremony is expected to take place on 13 December 2018.
Initiatives from Greece, Belgium, Italy and Spain are awarded the other prizes
The five winning initiatives show what is being done by numerous NGOs across Europe to help some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in society enter the labour market.
The 2017 Civil Society Prize recognises outstanding initiatives which help people furthest away from the labour market
The EESC has launched its 2017 Civil Society Prize. This year, the EESC will reward innovative projects to promote quality employment and entrepreneurship for the future of work undertaken by civil society, focusing on young people, migrants and other people who have difficulty accessing the labour market. A total of EUR 50.000 will be awarded to a maximum of five winners. The deadline for applications is 8 September 2017 while the award ceremony will take place on 7 December 2017 in Brussels.

The record number of 284 applications for this year's EESC Civil Society Prize on Migration, has clearly shown that migration and the integration of refugees continues to be a major area of action and concern for European Civil Society. The 2016 Prize will reward model and inspiring projects that represent the best of human solidarity in Europe and which have demonstrated real on the ground impact.
