The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Samen op de bres voor de Europese waarden
Beste lezers,
In 2022 hebben we de laatste hand gelegd aan onze communicatiestrategie, die nu concreet uitgevoerd zal gaan worden.
Er is van alles in gang gezet, van initiatieven om ons beter te uiten tot initiatieven om onze belanghebbenden en partners in hun “stijl” te begrijpen en te beantwoorden.
In de huidige meervoudige crisis, met alle sociale en economische onzekerheid van dien, moeten we duidelijker uitleggen wat wij doen en waar wij voor staan. Daarbij moeten we een groter inlevingsvermogen aan de dag leggen, en zo nodig ook emotionele intelligentie.
In de aanloop naar de Europese verkiezingen van 2024 moeten wij een nieuwe rol op ons nemen om de democratische waarden te bestendigen en Europa sterker en weerbaarder tegen autoritaire bedreigingen te maken.
Daarnaast zullen we er in het kader van het 65-jarig bestaan van het EESC voor zorgen dat we nog meer resultaten boeken en de huidige en toekomstige EU-wetgeving verbeteren voor de sociale partners, het maatschappelijk middenveld en de burgers van de EU.
Er liggen dus allerlei ontwikkelingen in het verschiet. Geniet ondertussen van het zomerreces en bereid u voor op de toekomst!
