The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Lai Eiropas Savienībā izveidotu spēcīgas un noturīgas veselības un aprūpes sistēmas, mums ir vajadzīgs izglītots, prasmīgs un motivēts darbaspēks. Mums ir vajadzīgas aprūpes un veselības aprūpes sistēmas, kas vērstas uz cilvēkiem, viņu tiesībām un vajadzībām.
Tas nozīmē arī to, ka cilvēkiem būtu jāpiedalās visās attiecīgajās diskusijās, apspriedēs un lēmumos. Ja šie nosacījumi tiks izpildīti, mēs spēsim panākt uz cilvēku vērstu veselības apdrošināšanu visiem un “tiesības uz veselību”, kā ieteikts konferencē par Eiropas nākotni. Tikai šādā veidā mēs spēsim garantēt visiem eiropiešiem vienlīdzīgu un ilgtspējīgu piekļuvi cenas ziņā pieejamai, profilaktiskai, ārstnieciskai un kvalitatīvai veselības aprūpei.
EESK nesen pieņemtajā pašiniciatīvas atzinumā “Veselības aprūpes darbaspēks un aprūpes stratēģija Eiropas nākotnei” (SOC/720) aicina izveidot Eiropas veselības aprūpes darbaspēka uzraudzības dienestu, lai palīdzētu dalībvalstīm izveidot un uzturēt plānošanas struktūras un koordinēt plānošanas pārrobežu aspektus. Tas būtu saistīts ar veselības nozares un aprūpes darbinieku tiesībām brīvi pārvietoties. Komiteja ierosina atjaunināt rīcības plānu veselības un aprūpes darbaspēkam Eiropas Savienībā, tostarp integrētu veselības un aprūpes darbaspēka plānošanu un prognozēšanu, kā arī veselības un ilgtermiņa aprūpes darbaspēka prasmju atjaunināšanu, it īpaši, izmantojot digitalizācijas piedāvātas iespējas.
