On 28 November 2022 the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and ECOLISE will hold an event in the context of the annual Communities for Future Week, a week-long series of events at EU, national and regional levels that will explore how best to support ongoing work led by communities on climate change and sustainability in Europe.
As in previous years, the European Economic and Social Committee, as the body representing organised civil society in the EU, will be following the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, from Tuesday, 5 July, to Monday, 18 July 2022. The HLPF is the United Nations central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The objective of this online event - held in the context of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) - is to take stock of EU progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15, in order to come up with a new set of proposals to reinvigorate the EU trajectory through strategic and cooperative approaches.
The overall aim of this event will be to bring together EU policy makers to lay the groundwork for discussing a new policy framework for a sustainable economy for the wellbeing of society as driver for Europe's resilience and strategic autonomy, focusing on systemic change.
The EESC conference, organised with the support of the French Presidency of the EU, on "Tackling energy poverty at the heart of the ecological and energy transition" was held on 21 April 2022. This was the follow-up event to the EESC's 2021 conference on "Energy poverty at the crossroads of the European Pillar of Social Rights and the European Green Deal". ...
The EESC is organising a virtual conference on "Health challenges in the EU in the pandemic context" on 31 March 2022 (9h30 to 17h30).
The aims of the conference will be to look into possible actions to exit the cross cutting crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, to prevent the next health threat from spiraling out of control, and to build stronger and more resilient health systems for the future.

This event aims to raise awareness among policymakers and other stakeholders of the important contribution of community/grassroots initiatives to global goals and to navigating social, environmental and economic changes in support of wider transformation.

On 13 July 2021, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will hold a public side-event in the context of the United Nations' High Level Political Forum on sustainable development (HLPF), an annual space to review commitment and progress made on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which will be held from 6th to 15th July 2021 in New York.
