Events

  • The 11th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform took place on 20 April 2022. During the meeting, an exchange between authorities and members of the civil society platform was held with special focus on the unprovoked and unilateral armed aggression initiated by the Russian Federation against Ukraine on its independent and sovereign territory. A joint declaration, prepared by both sides, was discussed and adopted.

    European citizens are interested in the implementation of digital technology solutions, with a view to simplifying the necessary administrative procedures in relation to the authorities or in everyday life in society. A digitally literate population can benefit, through digital identity, from simplified access to the services provided by public authorities or the business environment.

    JCC Meeting

    For the 15th time, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and Montenegro held the Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee (JCC). It took place in Brussels and tackled issues such as: Current state of play in EU-Montenegro relations including 2021 Montenegro Report / Revised enlargement methodology – Cluster 1: The Fundamentals of the Accession Process, with a special focus on Economic Criteria, Public procurement, Statistics and Financial Control and the response to the COVID-19 pandemic / Overview of the civil society situation in Montenegro.

    A joint declaration was adopted at the meeting and distributed to all relevant EU institutions, as well as to the Montenegrin authorities.

  • The EESC is organising a public hearing on "Employment of young people with disability" on 8 April 2022.

    The aim of the event is to:

    • reflect on which steps the EU could take to make progress on this topic
    • contribute to the debate around the European year of Youth

  • The EESC's Thematic study group on the inclusion of the Roma is organising a remote public hearing on 5 April 2022.

  • Public hearing For an inclusive, sustainable, strengthened and efficient cohesion policy in Europe: the opinion of European civil society organised in collaboration with the French ESC in Paris, labelled as an event under the auspices of the French Presidency.

  • The 21st meeting of the EU Advisory Group for the EU-Central America Association Agreement took place virtually on 4 April 2022. 

  • The Truth about lies. Youth Challenging Disinformation

    "Your Europe, Your Say!" is the EESC's annual event for young people. Schools from all of the 27 EU Member States, the 5 EU candidate countries and a Brussels-based European school are invited to apply to take part and one school from each country is then selected by drawing lots. 

    This year, the discussions will focus on disinformation and fake news. The goal of the event will be to raise awareness of the dangers of disinformation and to encourage the participants to become more active in the fight against fake news.
