Giving form to the future
In light of ecological and social challenges, we must rethink the way we design our cities, homes and community spaces. For architects, the Golden Ratio is no longer the benchmark, but rather the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From a single, elegant equation, architects today must meet multidimensional success criteria with almost infinite variables.
This exhibition showcases examples of sustainability in construction from around the world. They are the results of the expertise of many different professionals and have been coordinated by the Danish architecture firm BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group.
The exhibition was initiated by the Civil Society Organisations’ Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). BIG kindly provided photographs and project descriptions, as well as supporting the conception of the exhibition. The Danish Society of Engineers (IDA) has provided its space for the exhibition from 2 to 8 July.
The exhibition complements and supports the work of the EESC’s Group, notably on promoting inclusive and equitable societies, decent, sustainable and affordable housing, and the achievement of the SDGs. The Group is convinced that sustainable construction is an efficient tool for building inclusive, climate-resilient communities and advancing the SDGs.
