The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Pripravila skupina delodajalcev v EESO
Od vzpostavitve evropskega enotnega trga sta harmonizacija in vzajemno priznavanje standardov podjetjem omogočila, da svoje proizvode prodajajo na trgu z več kot 450 milijoni ljudi. Predstavlja 61 % trgovine znotraj EU in je podlaga za gospodarsko blaginjo Evrope, kar koristi državljanom, potrošnikom, delavcem in podjetjem. Evropska komisija ocenjuje, da 25 % bruto domačega proizvoda EU ustvari notranji trg.
Vendar so zaradi novih dogodkov, kot sta digitalna preobrazba in prehod na ogljično manj intenzivno in bolj trajnostno gospodarstvo, potrebne nove prilagoditve, pa tudi spreminjajoče se potrebe potrošnikov, zaposlenih in podjetij ter nove geopolitične razmere.
Za uspešno nadaljevanje enotnega trga so potrebne izboljšave na več področjih, vključno z evropsko energetsko in industrijsko politiko, energetsko unijo, bančno unijo, ugodnejšim okvirom za velika in mala podjetja ter večjo javno podporo evropskemu projektu, učinkovitejšimi javnimi storitvami in izboljšano infrastrukturo za IT, energijo in promet.
V prvi polovici leta 2024 sta bili objavljeni dve prelomni poročili nekdanjih italijanskih predsednikov vlad: Enrico Letta je pisal o prihodnosti enotnega trga, Mario Draghi pa o prihodnosti evropske konkurenčnosti). Skupina delodajalcev v EESO je povzela ključna sporočila za uspešno prihodnost notranjega trga EU v kratkem dokumentu „Enotni trg EU: naslednja generacija“.
