The benefits of digitalisation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are multiple, allowing them to boost competitiveness, expand market access and improve customer relations. In an information report adopted at its December plenary session, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) considers it necessary to support the digital transformation of SMEs with measures adapted to the specific needs of different types of companies.

- atbalstīt pilsoniskās sabiedrības organizācijas valstīs, kurās notiek pāreja. Šāds atbalsts ir vērsts galvenokārt uz arodbiedrībām un darba devēju organizācijām, kā arī sieviešu, jauniešu un lauksaimnieku apvienībām;
- uzturēt divpusējās attiecības ar valstu ekonomikas un sociālo lietu padomēm šajā reģionā un rūpēties par to, lai dienvidu partnervalstīs radītu priekšnoteikumus pilsoniskās sabiedrības iekļaušanai politiskajā dialogā;
- izstrādāt atzinumus un kopīgus ziņojumus par galvenajiem politiskajiem problēmjautājumiem, ar kuriem saskaras minētais reģions;
- rīkot regulāras sanāksmes ar Eiropas iestādēm un starptautiskām organizācijām, lai apspriestu politiku attiecībā uz pilsonisko sabiedrību visā reģionā;
- organizēt ekonomikas un sociālo lietu padomju un tām līdzīgu iestāžu gadskārtēju samitu, kurā valstu valdību un Eiropas Savienības politikas veidotājiem tiek adresēti nozīmīgi rīcībpolitiku ieteikumi par reģiona galvenajām problēmām.

On 17 October the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held a conference on the geopolitics of energy strategies in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Jointly organised with the Italian National Council for Economics and Labour (CNEL) in Rome, the conference underlined the potential of the EU's Southern Neighbourhood countries as producers of green hydrogen, especially now in light of the war in Ukraine. The area can become a key player in the energy sector to the benefit of all involved stakeholders.

The European Union (EU) and Morocco are bound by an association agreement signed in 1996, which entered into force in 2000. In October 2008, Morocco was granted an "Advanced Status" by the EU.
The Euro-Mediterranean Summit of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions aims at promoting greater understanding of the main issues affecting organised civil society in the Mediterranean region and discussing the common challenges they face.
The Euromed Summit has been regrettably postponed to 2022 due to new Covid19 variant & suspension of all international flights to Morocco.
