Solidarity with the Italian trade unions and workers from the private and public sector on 20 November national strike

We, at the EESC Workers’ Group, express our full solidarity with the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL) and workers across Italy’s public and private sectors taking industrial action on 20 November to demand fair wages, decent working conditions and a more socially just economic policy.

We stand alongside all those mobilising to defend workers’ rights, restore purchasing power and ensure that the benefits of economic prosperity are shared fairly.

We firmly support the CGIL’s demands for higher wages and pensions, secure employment, stronger public health and education services, and access to affordable housing. At a time when workers and families continue to face the consequences of rising living costs, fair taxation and a stronger commitment to social investment are essential to tackling inequalities.

Public and private sector workers are fundamental to our societies and economies, and their contribution must be recognised through fair pay, decent working conditions and strong public services.

Solidarity across sectors and borders is essential to defending social justice, strengthening collective bargaining and building a Europe that puts workers and their rights at the heart of its future.

In solidarity,
