Joint Meeting of the EU-Central America Joint Domestic Advisory Groups and Civil Society Dialogue Forum - June 2026
Joint events of the Domestic Advisory Groups of the EU and six Central American countries were hosted by the European Unionin Brussels, on 15-16 June 2026.
Representatives of the European Union and Central American Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs) met in Brussels for their annual joint meeting within the framework of the EU-Central America Association Agreement.
The meeting followed a hybrid Joint Workshop held on 15 June, which addressed:
- fundamental labour standards under the Association Agreement, and
- the regional MSME agenda in EU–Central America trade.
During the Joint Meeting on 16 June, DAG members exchanged on key labour and environmental issues related to the implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD) chapter, with a focus on:
- follow-up to the Joint Declaration adopted in 2025 in San José,
- development of compliance indicators, and
- planning of future joint work and activities.
An important element of the meeting was the exchange with the Trade and Sustainable Development Board, bringing together representatives of the European Commission and the authorities of the six Central American countries. This provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing work under the TSD chapter and to present DAGs’ priorities for its effective implementation.
The event forms part of the annual joint EU-Central America DAG meetings, which aim to promote structured dialogue between civil society representatives and public authorities, and to support the implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development provisions of the Association Agreement.
In the run up to the joint events, the DAGs adopted the Joint Declaration
