Tá daoine LGBTIQ i ngach cearn den Eoraip thíos le hidirdhealú a chuireann isteach ar a bhfeidhmíocht oideachasúil, ar a n-ionchais fostaíochta, ar a bhfolláine agus ar fheidhmiú a gceart bunúsach, fiú, amhail saorghluaiseacht laistigh den Aontas.
D’fhonn dul i ngleic leis sin, tá molta ag Coiste Eacnamaíoch agus Sóisialta na hEorpa (CESE) i dtuairim uaidh a glacadh ag an seisiún iomlánach a bhí aige i mí Aibreáin go nglacfaí rialachán neamh-idirdhealaitheach maidir le coincheap an “teaghlaigh” ar leibhéal an Aontais.
Sa tuairim sin, cuirtear in iúl gur díol sásaimh í an Straitéis um Chomhionannas LGBTIQ 2020-2025 a ghlac an Coimisiún Eorpach, arb é is aidhm di an t-idirdhealú a laghdú agus sábháilteacht agus cearta bunúsacha daoine LGBTI a chinntiú san Aontas trí bhearta reachtacha a ghlacadh ar an leibhéal Eorpach.
Leag rapóirtéir na tuairime, Ionuţ Sibian, béim ar a thráthúla atá an straitéis agus chuir sé in iúl gur geal leis an misneach a léirigh an Coimisiún agus an straitéis sin á glacadh “tráth atá an homafóibe agus an trasfhóibe ag dul i méid ar an leibhéal Eorpach”.
Éilítear leis an téacs a glacadh sainmhíniú ar choincheap an “teaghlaigh” a bheidh aitheanta ag Ballstáit uile an Aontais d’fhonn a ráthú go n-urramófar cearta “teaghlaigh bogha báistí”, mar a thugtar orthu, ar fud an Aontais ar fad, go háirithe i gcásanna trasteorann. Tá CESE á thathant ar an Aontas freisin treonna gníomhaíochta maidir le beartais ghníomhacha fostaíochta a bhunú, agus é d’aidhm acu go bhforbróidh na Ballstáit pleananna náisiúnta fostaíochta ina gcuirfear bearta sonracha do dhaoine LGBTIQ san áireamh agus iarrann sé ar gach Ballstát toirmeasc a chur ar chleachtais agus teiripí “tiontaithe”, mar a thugtar orthu.
