I mí an Mhárta 2020 chuir Uachtarán an Choimisiúin Eorpaigh, Ursula von der Leyen, an straitéis nua maidir leis an Afraic i láthair, lena bhfuil sé d’aidhm an caidreamh idir an tAontas agus tíortha na hAfraice a athmhúnlú. Roimh an gCruinniú Mullaigh idir an tAontas agus an Afraic, a rabhthas ag dúil go mór leis, thóg CESE céim chun cinn trí chomhpháirtíocht inbhuanaithe idir an tAontas agus an Afraic a mholadh bunaithe ar chearta uilíocha an duine, ar struchtúir dhaonlathacha, ar infheistíochtaí fadtéarmacha i mbonneagar agus ar chuimsiú iomlán na sochaí sibhialta eagraithe. Ní féidir an caidreamh nua atá beartaithe idir an tAontas agus an Afraic a chothú bunaithe ar an gcur chuige as dáta a bhaineann le beartas tionsclaíochta agus an fás, rud atá díobhálach don phláinéad agus a bhfuil iarmhairtí sóisialta diúltacha aige. Dar le CESE, ní mór díriú ar dháileadh cóir an rachmais agus ar struchtúir le haghaidh stát leasa a chur ar bun.
Go praiticiúil, tugann CESE le fios nach mór do chomhpháirtíocht forbartha an Aontais tacaíocht níos láidre a thabhairt do chórais oideachais phoiblí áitiúla a chur ar bun ar gach leibhéal, maille le clár Erasmus+ a leathnú. Is é an sprioc dheiridh atá ann go seachnófaí imirce daoine oilte ón Afraic chuig an Aontas agus go gcuirfí an imirce ar mhalairt treo.
Thug Uachtarán CESE atá ag dul as oifig, Luca Jahier, le fios go raibh an Afraic ar cheann de na príomhthosaíochtaí a bhí aige dá théarma oifige agus leag sé béim air go gcruthódh an tionscadal reatha, maidir le Limistéar Saorthrádála Mór-roinne na hAfraice a chur ar bun, sineirgí le margadh inmheánach an Aontais. Labhair Luca Jahier faoin imirce agus faoin ngá atá le sochaí sibhialta na hAfraice a bheith rannpháirteach i gcomhpháirtíocht AE-ACC agus dúirt sé mar fhocal scoir “go bhfuil an Afraic fós ina cuid thábhachtach de chlár oibre CESE, in ainneoin phaindéim COVID-19”.
