ECO Workshop "Partnership – the key to successful urban development" during the CoR OPEN DAYS 2015, moderated by Mr van Iersel, ECO president.

 

This workshop will look at the cases of Glasgow and Vilnius. The objective of the workshop is to examine the potential opportunities and challenges faced by the cities and how these are determined by their location.

This brochure presents the EESC's opinions relating to the cohesion policy for the post-2020 period. It demonstrates the important role played by organised civil society representatives during this period in exerting influence on decision-makers, which led to the adoption of a number of important policy packages concerning the next programming period. The EESC was the first European institution to contribute to the development of the new programming period (2021-2027).

The "Smart Cities" project is a follow-up to the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) own-initiative opinion on Smart cities as a driver of a new European industrial policy, adopted in July 2015.

Within the framework of the project, a delegation of seven EESC members has carried out study visits to six EU cities that have successfully implemented smart project initiatives.
