CertiPUR is a voluntary standard to advance the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) performance of flexible polyurethane foams used in bedding and upholstered furniture. CertiPUR allows companies to show their Health and Environmental commitment to customers. CertiPUR sets criteria in two categories: Measurable upper limits with regard to the final foam on certain substances that are either used to make foams or that can be found in them as a result of production. CertiPUR designates these 'restricted' substances and defines test methods to determine that these limits have not been exceeded. Prohibited substances which participating companies will be required to declare that they do not use.
