The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

Sadarbība Eiropas mērogā ir būtiski svarīga, lai nepieļautu nacionālu norobežošanos un autoritāru izpausmju mēģinājumus. Valstīm ir jāsadarbojas ne tikai cīņā pret vīrusu, bet arī tā cēloņiem un sekām, jo īpaši tāpēc, ka nākotnē iespējamās pandēmijas, piesārņojums, klimata pārmaiņas un biodaudzveidības apdraudējums nepazīst robežas. Eiropas rīcībā ir iedarbīgi instrumenti, ar ko vispārējās intereses no jauna izvirzīt kontinenta attīstības centrā. Pilnveidojot zaļo kursu, kopējo lauksaimniecības politiku un daudzgadu finanšu shēmu, mēs varētu būtiski pārorientēt Eiropas un valstu projektus un finansējumu uz to, lai Eiropa – pasaules līdere – sāktu virzību uz dzīvei labvēlīgu pasauli.
Dot priekšroku nevis konkurencei, bet sadarbībai no individuāla līdz pat starptautiskam mērogam, nebūt nav vienkāršs uzdevums. Šķiet, ka ir tik ērti aizstāvēt savas personiskās intereses. Ņemot vērā šo vilinājumu, mums jāatceras, ka šāds īstermiņa redzējums mūs ved postā: tam var būt spēcīgs bumeranga efekts. Šīs ir vēsturiska mēroga krīzes, kuru pārvarēšana, šķiet, ir milzīgs uzdevums, un vieni paši mēs ar to netiksim galā.
Tāpēc mans aicinājums ir viennozīmīgs: lai pārvarētu šīs krīzes, atteiksimies no sava egoisma un sadarbosimies vispārējo interešu labā. Sargiet sevi, savus tuviniekus, grūtībās nonākušus svešiniekus, apkārtējo dzīvo vidi, un centīsimies izmantot savu enerģiju, lai veiksmīgi pārvarētu pašreizējās bezprecedenta krīzes.
