The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

EESO in GD ECFIN sta organizirala spletno konferenco o okviru ekonomskega upravljanja EU v sklopu javne razprave, povezane s to temo. Namen dogodka je bil v razpravo vključiti civilno družbo, da bi dosegli soglasje o prihodnosti okvira ekonomskega upravljanja.
Predsednica EESO Christa Schweng je v uvodnem govoru dejala: „Namesto vrnitve k običajnemu se zavzemamo za prenovljen in uravnotežen okvir ekonomskega upravljanja, ki bo usmerjen v blaginjo.“ Poudarila je tudi, da je treba v razpravo vključiti vse glavne deležnike, tudi organizacije civilne družbe. Nato je spregovoril komisar za gospodarstvo Paolo Gentiloni, ki je dejal, da „ne bo lahko pravočasno doseči soglasja pred letom 2023, vendar moramo to edinstveno priložnost izkoristiti ter fiskalna pravila uskladiti z našimi ambicijami za močno, trajnostno in vključujočo rast v Evropi.“ Poslanka Evropskega parlamenta Margarida Marques je predstavila poročilo EP o pregledu makroekonomskega zakonodajnega okvira, nato pa je sledila okrogla miza. Zadnji del je bil posvečen vprašanju, kako bi lahko s prenovljenim okvirom ekonomskega upravljanja rešili problem naložbenih vrzeli in tako dosegli dvojni prehod. Poročevalka EESO Dominika Biegon je predstavila mnenje na lastno pobudo Ponovni razmislek o proračunskem okviru EU za trajnostno okrevanje in pravičen prehod. (tk)
