The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

EESO poziva Evropsko komisijo, naj pripravi obsežen/celovit načrt okrevanja evropskega letalstva kot celote s posebnimi sredstvi za podporo vsem podsektorjem in njihovim zaposlenim. V mnenju, ki ga je pripravil Thomas Kropp in je bilo sprejeto na septembrskem plenarnem zasedanju, Odbor trdi, da je potreben ambiciozen, usklajen politični odziv ter jasno razlikovanje med začetno fazo okrevanja v kratkoročnem obdobju in potrebo po zagotovitvi mednarodne konkurenčnosti sektorja in enakih konkurenčnih pogojev v srednje in dolgoročnem obdobju.
Ob plenarnem zasedanju je g. Kropp komentiral: „Čeprav se je letalstvo v preteklosti že soočalo s krizami, je ta brez primere. Po zadnjih ocenah sektor ne bo povsem okreval pred letom 2024. Evropske institucije in drugi mednarodni organi še niso uskladili regulativnih ukrepov za vzpostavitev mednarodnih standardov. Pri letalskem prometu ne gre le za letalske prevoznike, temveč tudi za druge pomembne akterje, kot so letališča, izvajalci navigacijskih storitev zračnega prometa, izvajalci storitev zemeljske oskrbe in drugi ponudniki storitev, ki jih je treba upoštevati pri iskanju rešitev.“
Na splošno mora Komisija iskati pravo ravnovesje med ukrepi za okrevanje in finančnimi zahtevami, ki izhajajo iz evropskega zelenega dogovora, ter se izogniti temu, da bi nalagala dodatna upravna bremena, zlasti v fazi okrevanja, saj je celoten sektor finančno izredno krhek.
