Member states' strategic plans for the new CAP - Relevant EESC opinions
Member states' strategic plans for the new CAP - Relevant EESC opinions
A new and more sustainable common agricultural policy (CAP) for 2023-2027 was recently adopted by both the European Parliament and the Council after more than 3 years of negotiations. The review aims to align the CAP with the EU’s environmental and climate commitments (at least 35% of the rural development budget and at least 25% of direct payments will be dedicated to environmental and climate measures), while being fairer (10% of direct payments will go to small and medium-sized farms) and integrating for the first time a social dimension to guarantee adequate employment conditions for farm workers. Member States have until 1 January 2022 to submit their draft strategic plans tailoring the provisions of the CAP to the needs of their farming communities in cooperation with local authorities and relevant stakeholders. Several EESC opinions provide valuable inputs for the elaboration of these strategic plans:
- Evaluation of the Impact of the CAP on Generational Renewal
- From farm to fork: a sustainable food strategy
- Evaluation on the CAP's impact on territorial development of rural areas
- Action Plan for the development of EU organic production
- Towards a holistic strategy on sustainable rural/urban development
- Strategic autonomy and food security and sustainability
- Towards a Fair Food Supply Chain
- Benefits of extensive livestock farming and organic fertilizers in the context of the European Green Deal
