Assessment of the current state of play of relations between organised civil society in the European Union, the United States and Canada, and evaluation of the potential for more structured forms of transatlantic cooperation
The opinion will assess the current state of relations between organised civil society in the European Union, the United States and Canada in the context of evolving transatlantic relations. It will analyse existing mechanisms for dialogue and cooperation, identify gaps and emerging challenges, and examine the expectations of civil society organisations and social partners on both sides of the Atlantic.
The opinion will also evaluate whether there is sufficient interest and added value in developing more structured forms of transatlantic civil society cooperation, including the possible establishment of a Transatlantic Civil Society Platform. Particular attention will be paid to cooperation in areas such as trade, digital governance, sustainability, democratic resilience, and the defence of shared values. The objective is to formulate recommendations on how the EESC can strengthen the civil society dimension of transatlantic relations and contribute to a more resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking partnership between the European Union, the United States and Canada
The EESC Youth Test is being applied to this opinion. Human Development Research Initiative (HDRI) was chosen by a group of interested youth organisations to represent all of them during the opinion-making process.
