The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

EØSU er den 24. marts vært for en musikalsk optræden i forbindelse med afslutningsceremonien for ungdomsarrangementet "Dit Europa, din mening!". Forestillingen vil hylde Ukraines kamp for demokrati og frihed gennem sange, der fortæller historier om hverdagens helte.
Forestillingen med titlen "Svit za ochi" (Langt væk, ude af syne) fremføres af den polske teatergruppe Theatre Navpaky. Den byder på en samling af ni sange, der fortæller historier om unge i forskellige livssituationer i et set-up, der afspejler de aktuelle begivenheder i Ukraine.
Tanken bag forestillingen er at vise, hvordan mennesker, der med heltemod kæmper for deres frihed, ikke er majestætiske bronzefigurer, men almindelige mennesker af kød og blod med deres egen hverdag og egne glæder og problemer.
Sangene vil blive sunget på ukrainsk med engelske undertekster. Forestillingen vil give ikke-ukrainske tilskuere en enestående mulighed for at opleve ukrainsk kultur.
Den vil blive opført under det afsluttende møde for "Dit Europa, din mening!", EØSU's årlige ungdomsarrangement, som i år finder sted den 23.-24. marts. 105 elever fra 35 gymnasieskoler rundt om i EU og kandidatlandene, herunder Ukraine og Moldova, kommer til Bruxelles for at tale om demokrati og unges deltagelse i det offentlige liv. De vil ved hjælp af metoderne for parlamentarisk demokrati komme med forslag til, hvordan man kan forbedre de unges deltagelse i EU's beslutningsproces. EØSU vil derefter sørge for, at deres forslag viderebringes til EU's institutioner og beslutningstagere.
