Time for an EU Blue Deal – Conference Highlights

The high-level hearing of the 27th February 2023 on water policies and challenges - Time for a Blue Deal - set the scene for the EESC’s work on its EU Blue Deal flagship initiative on water. The event was an occasion to exchange with top water experts on the most pressing water-related challenges now and in the years to come, and to discuss the state of play regarding existing policies. The outcomes of the event were reflected in the EESC’s opinions on the Blue Deal, a new strategic approach to water policies at EU level . At the end of the work, the EESC’s proposals will be summarised in a Declaration to be presented to the EU institutions at a high-level conference “Call for an EU Blue Deal” in October 2023.
