The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Eiropas Savienībai steidzami ir vajadzīgi emisiju samazināšanas un klimata pārmaiņu ierobežošanas pasākumi. Šajā saistībā Eiropas Komisijas izstrādātajam ilgtspējīga finansējuma tiesību aktu kopumam ir iespēja izveidot skaidru, konsekventu un visaptverošu satvaru, kas būtu labvēlīgs zaļākai ekonomikai, kuras attīstība neapstātos.
Stefan Back izstrādātajā un septembra plenārsesijā pieņemtajā atzinumā EESK pilnībā atbalsta Komisijas pasākumus, kuru mērķis ir izveidot standartus, lai definētu ilgtspējīgu ekonomisko darbību. Tomēr tajā norādīts arī, ka daži elementi var radīt problēmas un izdevumus, īpaši mazajiem un vidējiem uzņēmumiem.
Komitejas skatījumā svarīgi ir skaidri definēt tādus zaļo investīciju tehniskos kritērijus, kas tiešā veidā palīdzētu sasniegt Eiropas klimata mērķus un kuriem būtu iespējams pieskaņot saistīto uzņēmējdarbības sektoru un finanšu sektora praksi. Ja tiktu noteikti standarti, kas atšķirtos no ES tiesību aktu maksimālajām prasībām, rastos neskaidrība, tāpēc EESK iesaka šīs prasības stiprināt.
“Komisijas pasākumu kopums ir iecerēts, lai ieguldītājiem dotu iespēju pārorientēt ieguldījumus uz ilgtspējīgākām tehnoloģijām un uzņēmumiem. Mums ir nepieciešami efektīvi, viegli piemērojami, inovatīvi un produktīvi instrumenti, kas strauji nestu reālus rezultātus. Deleģētās regulas par ilgtspējīga finansējuma taksonomiju novērtējums būtu jāveic ar šādu virsmērķi,” uzsvēra Back. (mp)
