The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Šajā mūsu raidieraksta sērijā analizēsim ilgstošo migrācijas krīzi Eiropā. Nesenās domstarpības starp Itāliju un Franciju, kad abas valstis atteicās ļaut kuģim “Ocean Viking” piestāt krastā, lai pārvietotu pie Lībijas krastiem izglābtos nelegālos migrantus, ir novedusi pie tā, ka migrācijas jautājums ir atkal izvirzījies priekšplānā. Kāda pašlaik ir Eiropas migrācijas politikas koncepcija? Kas ir noticis ar Eiropas solidaritāti kopš Sīrijas bēgļu krīzes radītā smagā pārbaudījuma 2015. gadā? Kā mēs esam nonākuši pie tā, ka neaizsargāti migranti tiek aizturēti neitrālā joslā?
Mēs apspriedīsim šos jautājumus un mēģināsim rast atbildes kopā ar Eiropas Ekonomikas un sociālo lietu komitejas Darba ņēmēju grupas locekli, migrācijas un patvēruma lietās specializējušos juristu José Antonio Moreno Díaz, ar nevalstiskās organizācijas “SOS Méditerranée” (NVO, kurai pieder kuģis “Ocean Viking” un kas 2016. gadā saņēmusi EESK balvu pilsoniskajai sabiedrībai) darbību vadītāja vietnieci Louise Guillaumat, kā arī ar Šveices raidsabiedrību korporācijas korespondentu Tomas Miglierina, kas strādā Briselē un labi pārzina migrācijas jautājumus.
