10th meeting of the EU-Korea Civil Society Forum under the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement and Workshop

The 10th EU-Korea Civil Society Forum (CSF) took place on 9-10 September 2024 in Seoul. The event started with a workshop discussing Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the world of work and workers, as well as response to demographic change in terms of low fertility and aging in South Korea.

During the CSF, the members of the Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs) discussed the impact of the EU’s green trade policies, including CBAM and CSDDD, challenges for SMEs in Korea, Occupational Safety and Health, Circular Economy, as well as the Just transition with maritime focus. They in particular assessed the implementation progress of the 2021 Panel of Experts’ report and recommendations regarding Korea's labour commitments under the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement in the presence of a representative from the ILO. In addition to that, the members reviewed the Rules of Procedure for the CSF.

Joint conclusions, prepared by both sides, was discussed and adopted.
