This public event will assess the extent of the EU's current ecological overshoot and look into proposals from organised civil society to push back against resource depletion and present some best practices and initiatives to reduce the EU's ecological footprint.

This public hearing will gather the view of international institutions, environmental law experts and the European and Ukrainian civil society stakeholders on the EU's approach to protecting and enhancing a healthy environment for all.
As part of its work to prepare an opinion on the Commission package to better protect people from asbestos and ensure an asbestos-free future, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising a hybrid public hearing on 31 October 2022 from 10:00 am to 13 am.
The aim of the event is to gather input from other EU Institutions, civil society and academia on the following questions:
• What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Commission's package?
• What kind of activities do different actors carry out to protect workers from asbestos exposure, and are there any best practices to be shared?

The aim of the conference is to look at how the European Union can be more active in this area, especially through better cooperation among the key stakeholders. The conference will take place in a hybrid format.
While Europe and its societies are still in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic and with the Conference on the Future of Europe in its closing stages, the EESC will be holding its annual Civil Society Days in March 2022.
The hybrid event will take place at the French Académie du Climat and will bring together some 120 persons representing EESC Members, academia, French civil society organisations and representatives of the French local and national authorities.
Restoring sustainable carbon cycles initiative builds on the European Climate Law committing the European Union to the objective of climate-neutrality by balancing Union-wide greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and removals by 2050 at the latest.
The event will take place both in Brussels and in Ljubljana in hybrid form. Registration for external participants will be open on this page until 25 November 2021.
Following the success of the first Youth Climate and Sustainability Round Table, the EESC will host the second EU Youth Round Table on Friday 26 November, 11:00-12:00 CET. Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, will participate in the event and will engage with the youth representatives on the topic: protecting ecosystems and restoring biodiversity.
On 1 October the Category will mark its 30th anniversary, with high-profile speakers and round tables. The event is organised in the context of the Conference on the Future of Europe.
