Open Day - European Economic and Social Committee to mark 75 years since the Schuman Declaration

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will open its doors to the public for its traditional Open Day on Saturday 10 May 2025 from 10:00 to 18:00.

It will be a unique chance to learn about the work of the EESC, the only EU institution representing organised civil society, including employers, workers and other organisations such as youth, environmentalists, consumers, women, disability rights groups and many more.

This year marks a special celebration – 75 years since the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundation for peace, unity, and cooperation in Europe. Let’s come together to reflect on how far we have come, and look ahead to the future we are building together.

• Speed Voting Station - Discover the EESC’s 3 Groups through fast, fun voting activities

• Wheel of Fortune - Spin to win and learn about the EU

• EESC Discovery Tour – Stamp your way through the EESC - start at the info stand and receive your Schuman European passport; collect all 10 stamps and claim your special prize before leaving

• Postcards Station - Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the EU flag - write and send your own message of unity to family or friends

• Kids’ Corner - Face painting; board games; colouring and drawing; creative workshop: make your own hat

• Live Caricaturist - Have your portrait drawn by our caricaturist - a fun and unique souvenir to take home

• Photo Booth - With fun props to capture the moment

• Live Music & Festive Atmosphere - Enjoy performances throughout the day

Other activities: static bike challenge; quizzes; speed dating with EESC members – get your questions answered face-to-face.
