Following the kick-off of the Youth Climate and Sustainability Round Tables last July, the EESC will host the second Youth Climate and Sustainability Round Table on Friday 26 November, 11:00-12:00 CET.
Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, will participate in the event and will engage with the youth representatives on the topic: protecting ecosystems and restoring biodiversity.
The youth representatives will submit him a document providing a series of policy demands in the areas of:
- Addressing overconsumption in Europe
- Education on biodiversity and genetic diversity
- Ecosystem restoration policies and target setting
No registration required: the event will be webstreamed on the EESC's dedicated webpage, watch it live!
The Youth Climate and Sustainability Round Tables are a space for regular, structured and meaningful dialogue between youth and EU decision-makers, launched after the adoption of the EESC’s opinion Towards structured youth engagement on climate and sustainability in the EU decision-making process.
Each Youth Round Table is on a specific topic and each time a group of around 10 youth representatives meet with the Commissioner responsible for the selected issue. After each event, the youth representatives submit a document of policy demands to the Commissioner involved, which provides a clear written response to the proposals in the following month.Do you have a question?
