Administrative cooperation

EESC opinion: Administrative cooperation

Key points:

  • The EESC supports the more decentralised, cross-border approach of the Internal Market Information System (IMI).
  • Civil society organisations can play an active, significant role by helping to raise awareness about the system and how it works.
  • IMI is intended to support legislative acts in the field of the Internal Market that require the exchange of information between Member States' administrations. At first, the system will concern the Services and Professional Qualifications Directives, but its scope will be extended to other sectors.
