The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Eiropas Savienības Padomes pašreizējās prezidentvalsts Polijas galvenais uzdevums būs saglabāt Eiropas vienotību, virzīties uz priekšu un ātri pieņemt lēmumus.
Februāra plenārsesijā Eiropas Ekonomikas un sociālo lietu komiteja rīkoja debates, kurās piedalījās Polijas valsts sekretāra vietniece Eiropas Savienības jautājumos Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka un kurās sprieda par prezidentvalsts Polijas prioritātēm.
Runājot par ES ārējo drošību un it īpaši par agresijas karu pret Ukrainu, M. Sobkowiak-Czarnecka sacīja: “Mūsu mērķis ir turpināt palīdzību Ukrainai un saglabāt ES vienotību. Kā vienu no pirmajiem prezidentvalsts Polijas sasniegumiem viņa minēja 16. sankciju paketi pret Krieviju.
EESK priekšsēdētājs Oliver Röpke uzsvēra, ka Polija rotācijas kārtībā pārņem ES prezidentūru laikā, kad mūs piemeklējuši tādi sarežģījumi kā ģeopolitiskā spriedze un enerģētikas krīze.
Viņš piebilda, ka “šodienas debates vēlreiz apliecināja, cik būtiska nozīme Eiropas Savienības nākotnes veidošanā ir stabilitātei, noturībai un vienotībai. Prezidentvalsts Polijas prioritātes patiešām saskan ar mūsu kopīgajiem centieniem, it īpaši saistībā ar vēlmi drošības jomā īstenot daudzdimensionālu pieeju. Globālās nenoteiktības laikā nelokāma ir mūsu apņēmība rīkoties izlēmīgi un sadarbības garā.”
Saskaņā ar devīzi “Par drošību, Eiropa!” ES prezidentvalsts Polijas pūliņi būs saistīti septiņām (ārējās, iekšējās, ekonomiskās, pārtikas, enerģētikas, veselības un informācijas) drošības dimensijām.
Pēdējos mēnešos Komitejas un prezidentvalsts Polijas sadarbība ir cieša un produktīva. EESK izstrādājusi 15 izpētes atzinumus, kas jau pieņemti vai drīzumā tiks pieņemti. (mp)
