Kickoff event on the Conference on the Future of Europe

The future is in your hands - Bringing the European project back to citizens

Bringing the European project back to citizens: The EESC kick-off event in the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe

A grand civil society kick-off event will take place on 10 June from 14:30 to 18:30. The event, named "Conference on the Future of Europe - Bringing the European project back to citizens", will officially launch the activities of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in the framework of the Conference. The forum will also serve as a brainstorming session and a "laboratory" for the upcoming citizens' consultations that the EESC is organising in view of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Starting from September 2021, this broad series of national consultations will take place in each Member State. Thanks to its vast network and partnerships, the EESC will enter into citizens' workplaces, lives, villages and spaces of gathering, to ask them what they think of the future of Europe, what are their concerns, hopes and proposals and what they expect on the EU. The consultations will feed into the Conference online platform and end in country reports, that the EESC will share in spring 2022 for further follow-up by the EU institutions.

As the voice of the European organised civil society, the EESC is fully committed to making the most of the Conference on the Future of Europe. With its 329 members based in all the 27 EU Member States and representative all walks of life, it intends to actively engage in bridging the gap with the EU institutions and in bringing this Conference on the ground, where it belongs.
