Expectations on consumption and the environment in the next legislative period

Just after the European elections will be a good time to review the last parliamentary term. Some progress was made, notably on sustainable consumption, with several proposals for directives (consumer and green transition, right to repair, green claims).

However, there are many signs of backsliding, such as the numerous criticisms of the European Green Deal.

In order to anticipate and influence the upcoming decisions that will follow the renewal in the European Parliament and the European Commission, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)’s Consumers and Environment Category is holding a morning discussion forum open to everyone who registers, on 3 July 2024 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the EESC.

Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English, French, Spanish, German and (spoken only) Italian.

This is an in-person conference that will be live streamed on our website in English, French and Spanish. Registration closed on 1 July 2024.

More information can be found in the programme.
