Združeni za prihodnost Evrope: nova predsednica je odločena obnoviti enotnost in ugled EESO ter dokazati njegovo dodano vrednost pri oblikovanju politik na ravni EU
Inaugural plenary session (Term of office 2020-2025), with a debate on “Recovery for the future of Europe – The role of the European Economic and Social Committee”, with David Maria SASSOLI, Charles MICHEL, Ursula VON DER LEYEN, Apostolos TZITZIKOSTAS, Geert PAUWELS, Luca VISENTINI, and Jeremy WATES.
Sitting in front of a screen is not exactly how we had pictured this inaugural session. You may be asking yourselves why, as the new president, I am also participating remotely. Believe me, it was not easy for me to decide not to travel to Brussels. The reason for my decision is simple: we can only ask our people, our members and staff to limit their social interactions and change their everyday behaviour to fight the COVID-19 pandemic if we ourselves set an example.
United for the future of Europe. This is the guiding principle for my work as new president of the European Economic and Social Committee. Only united we can successfully overcome the economic and social hardship caused by CoViD-19. Only united we can shape a Europe that is economically prosperous, socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable.
