Tranżizzjoni ġusta u ekoloġika hija possibbli biss bil-kontribut tas-soċjetà ċivili. In-nies u l-organizzazzjonijiet madwar l-UE huma ddedikati għall-iżvilupp ta’ modi innovattivi u ffukati fuq in-nies għall-ġlieda kontra t-tibdil fil-klima. Fl-2021, il-KESE ddeċieda li jagħti l-Premju tiegħu għas-Soċjetà Ċivili lil ħames organizzazzjonijiet li jikkontribwixxu bil-kbir biex jiġu indirizzati l-isfidi tat-tibdil fil-klima. F’dan l-episodju ta’ The Grassroots View (Il-fehma tal-organizzazzjonijiet lokali), stedinnihom biex jgħidulna l-istejjer tagħhom.
Cillian Lohan, Viċi President tal-KESE għall-Komunikazzjoni, jispjega għaliex huwa kruċjali li ma tiġix injorata l-azzjoni klimatika fuq il-post minn għadd kbir ta’ individwi u komunitajiet. Guy de Koninck, f’isem l-assoċjazzjoni rebbieħa tal-ewwel premju, Grootouders voor het klimaat (BE), jagħtina aktar informazzjoni dwar il-proġett “It-Tfaddil Tagħna għall-Futur”, u l-isforzi tagħhom biex jippromwovu s-solidarjetà interġenerazzjonali. Monica Guiteras, kelliema tal-organizzazjoni Spanjola rebbieħa tat-tieni premju, Engineers without Borders in Catalonia (ES), titkellem dwar il-ġlieda tagħhom kontra l-faqar enerġetiku billi jgħinu lil dawk li jinsabu f’sitwazzjoni ta’ faqar enerġetiku jesprimu lilhom infushom u jsemmgħu leħinhom. Costin Dragne, jitkellem dwar il-proġett “educlick” li tmexxi l-NGO Rumena Workshop Without Borders, li tippromovi l-ekonomija ċirkolari u tindirizza l-inġustizzja soċjali. Zala Velkavrh, f’isem l-istudju urban “Prostorož”, li jiġġieled il-problema taż-żieda fit-temperaturi f’Ljubljana, is-Slovenja, titkellem dwar il-proġett kreattiv tagħhom li permezz tiegħu l-NGO rebħet dan il-premju. Fl-aħħar nett, Madis Vasser, f’isem il-koalizzjoni ta’ NGOs ekoloġiċi fl-Estonja, jitkellem dwar l-isforzi tagħhom biex gruppi ta’ interess differenti jingħaqdu madwar mejda biex jiddiskutu t-tranżizzjoni tal-pajjiż miż-żejt tax-shale għal enerġija aktar ekoloġika, mingħajr ma ħadd jitħalla jibqa’ lura.
