  • Extraordinary meeting of the Civil Society Organisations' Group in the framework of the Czech Presidency

    On 11 October 2022, the Civil Society Organisations' Group of the European Economic and Social Committee will hold a conference under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on Reinventing the Moravian-Silesian Region in search of a socially just transition. This is an in-person event that will be streamed online.

  • Extraordinary Workers' Group meeting

    The Workers' Group is organizing an extraordinary meeting in Prague focusing on the programme and priorities of the Czech EU Presidency and on the role of the social dialogue within the green transition.

  • The Moravian-Silesian Region as a testing ground

    While the EU is increasing its ambitions under the "Fit for 55" package, Europe's coal regions in transition are facing unprecedented structural change, exacerbated by the major energy crisis resulting from Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the damage caused by the COVID -19 pandemic.

  • The EESC is organising a hybrid conference entitled "Towards an EU framework against homelessness based on the principle of 'Housing First'" on 7 October 2022 (9h30 to 13h00).

    The aim of the conference will be to reflect on how the EU, national, regional and local authorities, as well as organised civil society, can join forces to identify practical steps to be taken to eradicate homelessness in the EU.

    In the context of a constantly evolving economic environment and high uncertainty, the ECO section organises a conference to have an open and inclusive debate with policy-makers, civil society representatives and economic researchers to inform and influence the economic policy debates at EU and national levels.

  • The European Commission organised the first Civil Society Forum of the EU-UK trade and cooperation agreement (TCA) on 4 October 2022.

     

  • The EU Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs), set up under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) to advise on the implementation of the agreement, held their first meeting on 3 October 2022, in Brussels. 

     

     

  • The EESC EU-Japan Follow-up Committee met on 3 October 2022 to discuss various aspects of EU-Japan relations. Main topics on the programme:

    • The post-Covid situation in Japan with regard to economic, social and societal aspects
    • Japan's possible association with the Horizon Europe - Research & Innovation Framework Programme
  • Extraordinary Workers' Group meeting

    The Workers' Group is organising an extraordinary meeting focusing on the need for fair minimum wages and strong collective bargaining to guarantee decent living conditions for all.

  • The EESC will host a public hearing in the context of its own-initiative opinion: Empowering youth to achieve sustainable development through education. The event aims to explore innovative ideas to foster opportunities and overcome challenges for the implementation of a transformative education for sustainable development.
