CARIFORUM-EU Consultative Committee - 2nd meeting

The Cariforum-EU Consultative Committee (CC) is the main body through which the European Economic and Social Committee promotes a civil society pillar to the Cariforum-EU Economic Partnership Agreement. Article 232 of this EPA tasks the Consultative Committee with assisting the Joint CARIFORUM-EU Council to promote dialogue and cooperation between representatives of organisations of civil society. The CC fosters social and civil dialogue through consultation on all aspects of social, economic, environmental and development issues as they arise in the context of implementing the CARIFORUM-EU-EPA.

The Committee is composed of 40 standing representatives of organisations representing employers' organisations, trade unions and other economic, social and non-governmental organisations (including development and environmental organisations), as well as the academic community.

The CC gathered for the first time in Brussels in 2014. With a secretariat rotating between the CARIFORUM Directorate and the European Economic and Social Committee, in 2016 the meeting will meet for the second time on 18-19 April at the EESC premises.
